Is the car check app free?
Yes. The app and the car check are free: MOT history with the mileage at each test, tax and MOT status and the DVLA vehicle details, with no account. Full history reports (finance, write-off, stolen, keepers and 150+ data points) are paid, bought in the app through Google Play.
Which phones does it work on?
Android phones and tablets, from Google Play. On an iPhone, use carcheckup.co.uk in Safari: the checks and reports are the same.
Do I need an account?
No. Reports you buy open straight away, are emailed to you and are listed under My reports on the phone.
How do the MOT and tax reminders work?
Tap Remind me on a free check. The app sends a notification 30, 7 and 1 day before the MOT runs out and before the road tax is due, and updates the dates from the DVLA after a renewal. You can stop them any time under Account.
Is the data the same as on the website?
Yes. The app runs the same checks from the DVLA, the DVSA MOT database and Experian, and the full report is the same 150+ data points.
