How to find the cheapest petrol station near you
- Compare before you go. Prices at forecourts a mile apart can differ by several pence a litre. This free fuel price checker compares every forecourt around your postcode: sort by price, and each result shows what you save on 50 litres against the area average.
- Try the supermarkets. Supermarket forecourts are the cheapest type on average (171.4p for unleaded today). Tick "Supermarkets only" in the filters to see just those.
- Fill up before the motorway. Motorway services charge the most, 19.5p a litre more than supermarkets for unleaded today.
- Use E10 if your car can. Standard unleaded (E10) is cheaper than super unleaded (E5), and most petrol cars built since 2011 can use it.
- Don't drive far for a few pence. A 5-mile round trip at 45 mpg uses about 88p of fuel at today's prices, so it only pays if the saving on the fill-up is bigger. Our fuel cost calculator works it out for your car.
- Check the update time. Each price shows when the forecourt last reported it. A price unchanged for weeks may still be right, but check the pump.
Where these prices come from: Fuel Finder
Since February 2026, the Motor Fuel Price (Open Data) Regulations 2025 require every UK forecourt to report its prices to Fuel Finder, the government's open data service, within 30 minutes of a change. The Competition and Markets Authority enforces it. We read the data about every 15 minutes and show each price with its own update time, unchanged: we don't rank or hide forecourts for payment, and only impossible prices (below 80p or above 400p a litre) are left out as reporting errors. If a price is wrong, report it to the government and the forecourt must correct it. The weekly UK averages come from the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero's weekly road fuel prices.

Where do these fuel prices come from?
From Fuel Finder, the UK government's open data scheme. Since February 2026 the law (the Motor Fuel Price (Open Data) Regulations 2025) requires every forecourt to report a price change within 30 minutes. We read the data about every 15 minutes and show each price with its own update time, unchanged.
How accurate are the prices?
Each price shows when the forecourt last updated it. A price that hasn't changed for weeks may still be right, but check the pump before you fill up. If a price is wrong, report it to the government's Fuel Finder service with the link under the results, and the forecourt must correct it.
Is it worth driving further for cheaper fuel?

Can I search gas prices near me here?
Yes. Gas, or gasoline, is the American word for petrol. In the UK, regular gas is unleaded petrol (E10), premium gas is super unleaded (E5), and diesel is diesel. Pick one above and enter a UK postcode.
